The Ecowitt WH45 is a comprehensive air quality sensor module that measures PM2.5, PM10, CO2, temperature, and humidity, designed to integrate with Ecowitt's weather station ecosystem. The particulate matter sensors detect fine particles (PM2.5) and coarse particles (PM10) that affect respiratory health, while the CO2 sensor monitors carbon dioxide levels to assess indoor ventilation quality. Temperature and humidity readings complete the environmental picture, all displayed through the Ecowitt app or compatible console displays.
The sensor connects wirelessly via 915MHz (US) or 868MHz (EU) RF signal to Ecowitt gateway devices like the GW1000, GW1100, or GW2000, which then relay data to the Ecowitt cloud for remote access via the WS View Plus app. This allows monitoring air quality from anywhere while also logging historical data for trend analysis. The sensor can operate indoors to monitor living spaces or outdoors under a protective cover to track neighborhood air quality including smoke from wildfires or pollution events.
Build quality includes a weatherproof enclosure rated for outdoor use with proper mounting. The particulate sensor uses laser scattering technology for accurate readings, while the CO2 sensor employs NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) technology for reliable carbon dioxide measurement. Power comes from a micro-USB adapter (included). Integration with the broader Ecowitt ecosystem means air quality data can be viewed alongside weather data from other sensors for comprehensive environmental monitoring. Data can also be shared with Weather Underground, Ecowitt.net, and other weather networks.
