IoT Network Segmentation with VLANs
Most smart home devices are built to a price, updated rarely, and trusted completely by the network they sit on. This course covers isolating them properly with VLANs, so a compromised device cannot reach your laptops, NAS or backups.
It works through planning a segment layout, the firewall rules that let a phone control a device on another VLAN without opening the reverse path, and the two things that break most first attempts: mDNS discovery across segments, and hubs that expect to be on the same broadcast domain as the devices they pair with.
