The Google Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) delivers enhanced video doorbell monitoring with continuous recording capability enabled by hardwired power. The wired connection ensures the doorbell never needs charging while enabling 24/7 video history that battery models cannot match.

The camera captures 960x1280 resolution optimized for head-to-toe views of visitors. HDR imaging and improved night vision ensure clear footage in any lighting. On-device processing identifies people, packages, animals, and vehicles for intelligent alerts that matter while filtering routine activity.

WiFi connectivity provides streaming, alerts, and two-way audio through the Google Home app. The wired installation uses existing doorbell wiring (8-24VAC required) while the included chime connector ensures compatibility with most doorbell chimes. Continuous power enables 24/7 recording with Nest Aware subscription.

Google Home integration shows video on Nest Hub displays, announces visitors on speakers, and coordinates with other Nest products. The wired design suits homes where continuous recording and reliability are priorities over installation flexibility. Familiar face detection can announce known visitors by name.
