Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Place the HomePod: Position on a flat surface with space around it for optimal sound. Keep away from walls for best performance.
  2. Connect power: Plug in the attached power cable. The top will illuminate as it boots.
  3. Bring your iPhone/iPad close: A setup card will appear on your device automatically.
  4. Tap "Set Up": Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Choose room: Select which room the HomePod is in for your Home app organization.
  6. Configure settings: Enable Personal Requests, Siri, and choose your preferences for Apple Music, podcasts, etc.
  7. Transfer settings: Your Wi-Fi credentials and Apple ID settings transfer automatically from your iPhone.
  8. Wait for setup to complete: HomePod will chime when ready. Siri will introduce the setup.
  9. Calibrate room audio: HomePod uses spatial awareness to optimize sound for your room automatically.

Troubleshooting

  • Setup card not appearing: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone/iPad. Restart both devices. Make sure you're signed into iCloud.
  • HomePod not responding to "Hey Siri": Check that "Listen for 'Hey Siri'" is enabled in Home app settings. Ensure HomePod isn't muted.
  • Smart home devices not controllable: Verify devices are added to Home app. Check HomePod is set as home hub in Home Settings.
  • Thread devices not connecting: HomePod 2nd Gen is a Thread border router. Ensure it's powered and connected. Check Thread network status in Home app.
  • Audio quality issues: Allow HomePod to calibrate to the room. Ensure it's on a solid surface. Try moving away from walls.
