Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Position the hub: Place the M3 centrally in your home for best Zigbee coverage.
  2. Connect network: Use Ethernet (recommended) by plugging into your router, or prepare for Wi-Fi setup.
  3. Connect power: Plug in the USB-C power adapter. The indicator will light up.
  4. Download Aqara Home app: Install and sign in or create an account.
  5. Add the hub: Tap "+" → "Hub" → "Hub M3." Follow the pairing instructions.
  6. Connect to Wi-Fi (if not using Ethernet): Enter your network credentials when prompted.
  7. Wait for initialization: The hub will download updates and prepare for use.
  8. Set up Matter: In hub settings, enable Matter and generate a pairing code.
  9. Add to Matter controller: Use the code to add the hub (and its devices) to Apple Home, Google Home, etc.
  10. Add Zigbee devices: Start adding your Aqara Zigbee sensors and accessories.

Troubleshooting

  • Hub not discovered: Ensure hub is powered and network connected. Move phone closer. Restart the hub by unplugging power.
  • Matter pairing fails: Regenerate the Matter code in Aqara app. Ensure the Matter controller supports the hub. Check firmware is updated.
  • Zigbee devices not pairing: Put hub in pairing mode first. Move device close to hub during initial pairing. Reset the Zigbee device.
  • IR control not working: Ensure clear line of sight to the device. Learn the IR codes if preset doesn't work. Position hub appropriately.
  • Automations not running locally: Check that all devices in the automation support local execution. Some features require cloud.
