Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Choose location: Mount on ceiling, at least 1.5ft from walls. Avoid areas near kitchens, bathrooms, or vents to reduce false alarms.
  2. Install mounting plate: Mark the two screw holes using the mounting plate as a template. Drill and secure with included screws.
  3. Activate the detector: Pull the battery tab on the back of the Eve Smoke to activate the 10-year battery.
  4. Attach to mounting plate: Twist the Eve Smoke onto the mounting plate clockwise until it clicks.
  5. Open Apple Home app: Tap "+" → "Add Accessory."
  6. Scan the HomeKit code: Find the code on the Eve Smoke or its packaging and scan it.
  7. Assign room: Add the smoke detector to the appropriate room.
  8. Test the alarm: Press and hold the button on the Eve Smoke to trigger a test alarm.
  9. Configure notifications: Ensure Home app notifications are enabled for alarm alerts.

Troubleshooting

  • Won't pair with HomeKit: Ensure you're using iPhone/iPad (not Mac). Scan the code carefully. Reset by holding button for 10 seconds if needed.
  • Chirping sound: Low battery chirp indicates 10-year battery is depleted—replace entire unit. Test button chirp is normal during testing.
  • False alarms: Relocate away from cooking areas or bathrooms. Clean with compressed air. Check for dust or insects.
  • Not receiving notifications: Check Home app notification settings. Ensure device is in a Home with you as owner or invited member.
  • Test alarm won't sound: Hold button longer (3+ seconds). If still silent, unit may be defective—contact support.
