What You'll Need
- Nanoleaf Essentials Lightstrip (2m Starter Kit)
- iPhone or Android with Nanoleaf app
- Thread border router (Apple HomePod Mini, Apple TV 4K, or Nanoleaf controller)
- Clean mounting surface
Step-by-Step Setup
- Plan Installation: Measure where the strip will go. Can be cut at marked intervals.
- Clean Surface: Wipe down the mounting area with a dry cloth.
- Connect to Controller: Attach the lightstrip to the power controller.
- Plug In: Connect power supply to outlet. Strip will illuminate.
- Download Nanoleaf App: Install from App Store or Google Play.
- Add Device: Scan the HomeKit code on the controller or use the Nanoleaf app.
- Connect via Thread: The strip uses Thread protocol for connection.
- Apply Strip: Peel adhesive backing and press firmly onto surface.
- Customize: Set colors, brightness, and effects in the app.

Troubleshooting
- Won't connect: Need a Thread border router (HomePod Mini, Apple TV 4K, etc.). Bluetooth used for initial setup.
- Intermittent connection: Add more Thread devices to strengthen the mesh network.
- Colors look wrong: Calibrate in app. Different surfaces affect color appearance.
- Adhesive not holding: Surface must be clean and smooth. Use additional clips if needed.
- Factory reset: Turn power off/on 5 times rapidly, then hold controller button for 10 seconds.
