Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Ensure Ring Alarm is set up: Your Ring Alarm Base Station must be online and connected.
  2. Insert batteries: Open the sensor and insert 2 AAA batteries.
  3. Open Ring app: Navigate to Devices → Alarm Base Station → "+" to add device.
  4. Select Flood & Freeze Sensor: Choose from the device list.
  5. Follow pairing prompts: The app will guide you through connecting the sensor to your Base Station.
  6. Wait for connection: Sensor connects via Z-Wave to the Base Station.
  7. Position the sensor: Place on the floor near potential water sources (water heater, washing machine, under sinks).
  8. Test the sensor: Place a few drops of water on the probes to verify detection.
  9. Configure alerts: Set up notification preferences for water and freeze detection.

Troubleshooting

  • Not pairing: Ensure Base Station is online. Move sensor closer during pairing. Check batteries are properly installed.
  • Not detecting water: Probes must contact water. Place flat on floor. Clean probes if dirty.
  • False freeze alerts: Verify sensor isn't near AC vents or cold drafts. Check actual room temperature.
  • No notifications: Check Ring app notification settings. Verify phone allows Ring notifications.
  • Battery warning: Replace both AAA batteries. Use quality alkaline batteries.
