- Schlage Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt
- Standard door prep (2-1/8" bore, 1" edge bore)
- 4 AA batteries (included)
- Smartphone with Schlage Home app
- 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
- Matter controller (for Matter features)
- Screwdriver
Step-by-Step Setup
- Remove existing lock: Unscrew and remove your current deadbolt from both sides.
- Install the latch: Insert the Schlage latch bolt into the door edge. Note the orientation for your door's handedness.
- Install strike plate: Secure the strike plate to the door frame. Test bolt alignment.
- Mount exterior assembly: Position the exterior keypad and thread the cable through the door.
- Connect interior assembly: Plug in the cable and mount the interior unit. Hand-tighten screws first.
- Install batteries: Insert 4 AA batteries. The lock will perform a self-test.
- Download Schlage Home app: Install and create your account.
- Add the lock: Follow the app's setup wizard to connect via Wi-Fi.
- Add to Matter: In Schlage app settings, enable Matter and scan the code with your Matter controller.
- Set up access codes: Create PIN codes for family and guests.

Troubleshooting
- Lock won't connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure 2.4GHz network (5GHz not supported). Move router closer or use extender. Check for MAC filtering.
- Apple Home Key not working: Verify iOS is updated. Remove and re-add Home Key in Wallet. Ensure NFC is enabled.
- Keypad not responding: Wake by touching. Check battery level. Clean keypad with soft cloth.
- Lock mechanism binding: Check door alignment. Adjust strike plate. Ensure latch orientation matches door handedness.
- Matter pairing fails: Update lock firmware first. Ensure Matter is enabled in Schlage app. Try pairing closer to Thread border router.
