Aqara Light Sensor T1 and Temperature/Humidity Sensor T1 provide environmental data for smart home automations. This guide covers common reporting and connectivity issues.

Common Symptoms

  • Sensor not reporting readings
  • Data not updating in app
  • Sensor showing offline
  • Inaccurate readings
  • Automations based on sensor not triggering

Light Sensor T1

Placement Guidelines

  • Mount where you want to measure ambient light
  • Light sensor window must face light source
  • Don't cover the sensor window
  • Avoid direct sunlight on sensor (causes high readings)

Readings Not Updating

  • Sensor reports when light changes by threshold
  • Stable light conditions = fewer updates
  • Wake sensor by pressing button
  • Check Zigbee connection status in app

Automation Thresholds

For light-based automations:

  1. In Aqara Home, create automation
  2. Set light sensor as trigger
  3. Configure lux threshold (e.g., below 50 lux)
  4. Test and adjust threshold as needed

Temperature/Humidity Sensor T1

Placement Guidelines

  • Keep away from direct sunlight, vents, radiators
  • Don't place near electronics that generate heat
  • Mount on interior walls for representative readings
  • Allow 30-60 minutes to acclimate after moving

Inaccurate Temperature

  • Compare with known accurate thermometer
  • Small variance (±0.5°C) is normal
  • Check placement isn't near heat sources
  • Allow sensor to stabilize after installation

Humidity Reading Off

  • Humidity sensors are sensitive to placement
  • Don't place in enclosed spaces
  • Compare with known hygrometer
  • Sensor may need replacement if consistently wrong

Connectivity Issues

Zigbee Network

Both sensors use Zigbee:

  • Require Aqara hub or compatible Zigbee coordinator
  • Check hub is online and functioning
  • Add Zigbee repeaters if sensor is far from hub

Sensor Offline

  1. Check battery level in app
  2. Press button to wake sensor
  3. If still offline, remove and re-pair

Re-Pairing Sensor

  1. Remove sensor from app
  2. Press and hold reset button 5+ seconds
  3. LED flashes indicating pairing mode
  4. Add in Aqara Home app
  5. Keep within 2 meters of hub during pairing

Battery

  • Both sensors use CR2450 battery
  • Typical life: 2 years
  • Check level in Aqara Home app
  • Replace when below 20%

Reporting Frequency

These sensors report on change:

  • Light: Reports when lux changes by threshold
  • Temperature: Reports on 0.3°C change (configurable)
  • Humidity: Reports on 2% change
  • Also periodic reports every few hours

HomeKit Integration

  1. Link Aqara hub to Apple Home
  2. Sensors appear automatically
  3. Create automations in Home app
  4. Example: Turn on lights when lux below 100

When to Contact Support

Contact Aqara support if:

  • Sensor won't pair after multiple resets
  • Battery drains within weeks
  • Readings are consistently off by large margin
  • Physical damage to sensor
