Problem Description

Your Eve Motion sensor is not detecting motion, not triggering automations, showing as No Response in HomeKit, or not appearing in the Eve app.

Common Causes

  • Sensor battery depleted
  • HomeKit connection lost
  • Sensor placed incorrectly for coverage
  • Thread/Bluetooth range issues
  • Automation conditions not met

Solutions

1. Check Battery Status

  1. Open Eve app and find the sensor
  2. Check battery percentage in device details
  3. Replace AA batteries if below 20%
  4. Use quality alkaline batteries

2. Check HomeKit Connection

  1. Open Apple Home app
  2. Look for the sensor - does it show No Response?
  3. Try removing and re-adding to HomeKit
  4. Scan the HomeKit code on the sensor

3. Optimize Sensor Placement

  • Mount 6-7 feet high for best coverage
  • Avoid pointing at heat sources (causes false triggers)
  • PIR works best detecting motion across its field of view
  • Avoid direct sunlight on sensor

4. Improve Connectivity

  • Eve Motion uses Thread if available, otherwise Bluetooth
  • Add Thread border routers (HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K)
  • Keep sensor within 30 feet of Home Hub
  • Walls and floors reduce range significantly

5. Reset the Sensor

  1. Remove batteries from sensor
  2. Wait 30 seconds
  3. Reinstall batteries
  4. Sensor will restart and try to reconnect

6. Check Automation Settings

  1. Open Home app and go to Automations
  2. Find automations using this sensor
  3. Check conditions (time, location, people home)
  4. Test by manually triggering

7. Factory Reset

  1. Remove batteries
  2. Press and hold the button while inserting batteries
  3. Keep holding for 10 seconds
  4. LED will flash - sensor is reset
  5. Remove from Home app and add again

When to Contact Support

Contact Eve Support if the sensor will not detect motion even when directly in front of it, or the LED does not light up with fresh batteries.
