If your Roborock robot vacuum won't charge, is having mapping problems, gets stuck frequently, or the mopping function isn't working, this guide covers the most common issues and solutions.
Robot Won't Charge or Return to Dock
When the vacuum can't find or charge on its dock:
- Ensure the dock is plugged in and the indicator light is on
- Clean the charging contacts on both the robot and dock with a dry cloth
- Place the dock against a wall with 1.5m clearance on each side and 2m in front
- Remove any obstacles blocking the path to the dock
- Check that the dock isn't on a dark or reflective surface
- Manually place the robot on the dock to test if it charges
Mapping Problems or Lost Navigation
When the robot can't create or follow its map:
- Clean the LiDAR sensor on top of the robot with a soft dry cloth
- Ensure the LiDAR turret can spin freely and isn't obstructed
- Check for highly reflective surfaces like mirrors that confuse the sensor
- Add physical markers if rooms look too similar to the robot
- Delete and recreate the map if it's become corrupted
- Ensure adequate lighting - complete darkness can affect some sensors
Robot Gets Stuck Frequently
If the vacuum keeps getting trapped:
- Pick up cables, small rugs, and loose items before cleaning
- Use virtual no-go zones for problem areas
- Check the main brush and side brushes for hair tangles
- Clean the cliff sensors on the bottom of the robot
- Ensure furniture has clearance above 10cm for the robot to pass under
- Update firmware for improved navigation algorithms
Poor Cleaning Performance
When the vacuum isn't picking up dirt effectively:
- Empty the dustbin and clean the filter
- Check and clean the main brush - remove tangled hair
- Replace worn brush bristles or rubber extractors
- Increase suction power for carpets in the app settings
- Verify the brush is spinning during operation
- Check for blockages in the suction pathway
Mopping Not Working Properly
For models with mopping capability:
- Ensure the water tank is filled and properly seated
- Check that the mop pad is attached correctly
- Clean or replace dirty mop pads regularly
- Adjust water flow settings in the app
- Use distilled water if you have hard water issues
- Verify mopping mode is enabled in the app
Auto-Empty Dock Issues
If the auto-empty function isn't working:
- Check that the dust bag isn't full
- Ensure the robot is properly seated on the dock
- Clean the dust port on the robot
- Check for clogs in the auto-empty pathway
- Verify auto-empty is enabled in app settings
- Replace the dust bag if it's torn or damaged
WiFi Connection Problems
When the robot won't connect or keeps disconnecting:
- Roborock vacuums only support 2.4GHz WiFi
- Move the dock closer to your router if signal is weak
- Reset the WiFi connection in the app and re-pair
- Restart your router and try connecting again
- Check if MAC filtering on your router is blocking the device
- Ensure your WiFi password doesn't have unsupported special characters
Error Codes and Messages
Common error codes and solutions:
- Error 1 - Main brush stuck. Clean or replace the brush
- Error 2 - Side brush stuck. Clean or replace side brushes
- Error 3 - Wheels stuck. Check for debris in wheels
- Error 4 - Cliff sensor error. Clean cliff sensors
- Error 5 - Main brush motor overloaded. Clear brush tangles
