Philips Hue Dimmer Switch

The original Philips Hue Dimmer Switch (V1) is a battery-powered wireless controller that provides convenient physical control over Philips Hue lights without requiring smartphone access. First introduced in 2015, this switch features a round design with four buttons: separate on and off buttons, plus dedicated brighten and dim buttons for intuitive control of your lighting.

The V1 Dimmer Switch uses the Zigbee Light Link protocol based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, operating on the 2400-2483.5 MHz frequency band. It can control up to 10 lights directly without a Hue Bridge, though connecting to a Bridge unlocks additional features including HomeKit compatibility and software upgrades. The switch has a lifetime rating of 50,000 clicks and an IP20 rating for indoor use only.

The magnetic design allows the switch to be removed from its wall-mounted back plate for use as a portable remote control with a range of up to 40 feet. It is powered by a CR2032 button cell battery with a minimum 2-year lifespan. The back plate can be attached to walls using included adhesive strips or screws, eliminating any need for wiring.
