Aqara Hub M3

The Aqara Hub M3 represents the pinnacle of Aqara's smart home hub technology, serving as a multi-protocol Matter controller and Thread Border Router. Building upon the success of the Hub M2, the M3 incorporates Thread and Bluetooth protocols alongside Zigbee 3.0, making it an exceptionally versatile control center for modern smart homes. The hub features advanced connectivity options including dual-band WiFi (2.4/5 GHz) with WPA3 security, Power over Ethernet (PoE) for reliable wired connections, and a USB-C port that supports mini-UPS and power bank connections for uninterrupted operation during power outages.

The Hub M3 can connect up to 127 Thread or Zigbee devices, with direct connection support for 64 child devices that can be expanded through Zigbee routers or Thread mesh extender nodes. The hub features a two-way, 360-degree IR blaster that both transmits commands and recognizes when conventional IR remotes are used, enabling better status detection for legacy devices. It can even function as an AC thermostat when paired with an Aqara temperature sensor. The built-in 95dB speaker supports Aqara Home alerts, announcements, and custom ringtones in automations.

Designed with privacy and security in mind, the M3 contains no microphone or camera components. It offers 8GB of end-to-end encrypted local storage for device lists, configuration parameters, and automation data. The edge computing capabilities enable local control and automation processing, reducing system latency and minimizing reliance on cloud services. The hub supports seamless migration from older Aqara hubs, allowing users to upgrade their network without manually reconnecting devices.
