Philips Hue Bridge (Matter)

The Philips Hue Bridge with Matter support represents the current v2 Bridge after receiving the firmware update that enables Matter protocol support. This update transformed the Hue Bridge into a Matter controller, allowing all connected Philips Hue devices to automatically work with Matter-compatible apps and platforms for seamless cross-ecosystem integration.

Matter offers reliable, secure interoperability between supported smart home devices from different manufacturers, providing a simplified connected experience. With Matter enabled, users can connect their Hue lights to Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, Google Assistant, and other Matter-compatible platforms simultaneously without needing separate integrations for each. The Bridge continues to use Zigbee for communication with Hue devices while bridging to Matter/Thread for broader smart home connectivity.

It is important to note that certain Philips Hue products have limitations with Matter: the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box and the dial function on the Tap Dial Switch do not support Matter. Additionally, products connected via Bluetooth only (without the Bridge) cannot use Matter features. The Matter update is automatically pushed to all compatible Hue Bridges.
