Important Safety Notice

Warning: Working inside an electrical panel can be dangerous. If uncomfortable, hire a licensed electrician.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn off main breaker: Safety first—de-energize the panel if you'll be working inside.
  2. Open panel cover: Remove the cover to access the main lines.
  3. Install CT clamps on mains: Clamp around the main service wires (not the neutral).
  4. Install circuit CT clamps: Add clamps to individual circuits you want to monitor.
  5. Connect CTs to Vue 3: Plug CT cables into the Vue 3 module.
  6. Mount Vue 3: Secure inside or near the panel.
  7. Restore power: Turn main breaker back on.
  8. Download Emporia app: Install on your smartphone.
  9. Create account: Sign up for Emporia.
  10. Add device: Tap "+" and follow Vue 3 setup instructions.
  11. Connect to WiFi: Enter your 2.4GHz network credentials.
  12. Label circuits: Name each monitored circuit (HVAC, kitchen, etc.).
  13. Set budgets: Configure energy budgets and alerts.

Troubleshooting

  • Readings showing negative: CT clamp is reversed. Flip it around.
  • Zero readings: Ensure CT is fully closed around wire. Check connections.
  • WiFi not connecting: Only 2.4GHz supported. Check signal at panel location.
  • Missing circuits: Add additional CT clamps for more monitoring.
