What You'll Need

  • Halo Collar 3
  • Smartphone with Halo app
  • Halo subscription plan
  • WiFi network
  • Time for dog training

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Charge the collar: Fully charge using the magnetic charger. This takes approximately 3 hours.
  2. Download Halo app: Install and create your account.
  3. Activate subscription: Choose a plan—required for GPS and fence features.
  4. Add your dog: Enter your dog's name, breed, weight, and temperament details.
  5. Pair the collar: Follow in-app instructions to connect the collar via Bluetooth.
  6. Create virtual fences: Use the app's map to draw boundaries around your property. You can create multiple fence zones.
  7. Set feedback preferences: Choose from sound, vibration, or static feedback for boundary warnings. Start with sound only.
  8. Begin training: Halo includes Cesar Millan training videos. Complete the training program before relying on the fence.
  9. Fit the collar: Place on your dog snugly—you should fit one finger between collar and neck.
  10. Test the system: Walk your dog toward the fence boundary to verify alerts work correctly.
  11. Enable activity tracking: Monitor your dog's daily activity and sleep patterns.

Troubleshooting

  • Fence boundaries inaccurate: GPS can vary by a few feet. Build in buffer zones when creating fences.
