What You Will Need

  • Aqara Smart Pet Feeder C1
  • Aqara Home app (iOS or Android)
  • 2.4 GHz WiFi network
  • Dry pet food (kibble up to 12mm in diameter)
  • Power outlet near the feeding location

Step 1: Unbox and Assemble the Feeder

  1. Remove the Smart Pet Feeder C1 and all accessories from the box, including the food container, lid, food tray, and power adapter.
  2. Place the base unit on a flat, stable surface in the area where your pet normally eats.
  3. Attach the food tray to the front of the base unit. It should click securely into place.
  4. Seat the food container on top of the base unit, ensuring the dispensing mechanism aligns with the internal chute.
  5. Fill the food container with dry kibble. Do not overfill past the maximum fill line marked inside the container.
  6. Close the container lid firmly. The airtight seal helps keep food fresh.

Step 2: Connect Power

Plug the included power adapter into the port on the back of the feeder, then plug the other end into a wall outlet. The feeder's indicator light will turn on, confirming it has power. The Pet Feeder C1 connects directly via WiFi and does not require a separate Aqara hub.

Step 3: Add the Feeder to Aqara Home

  1. Open the Aqara Home app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the + icon and select Add Accessory.
  3. Choose Smart Pet Feeder C1 from the device list or scan the QR code on the bottom of the feeder.
  4. Press and hold the button on the back of the feeder for 5 seconds until the indicator light begins blinking rapidly.
  5. Select your 2.4 GHz WiFi network and enter the password. The feeder does not support 5 GHz networks.
  6. Wait for the connection to complete. Once paired, assign the feeder to a room and give it a name such as "Kitchen Pet Feeder."

Step 4: Configure Portion Sizes

In the Aqara Home app, open the Pet Feeder C1 device page. You can adjust the portion size by selecting the number of portions to dispense per feeding. Each portion is approximately 5 grams (about 1/36 of a cup). Start with a portion count that matches your pet's current meal size and adjust as needed. You can also tap the Feed Now button to manually dispense food at any time.

Step 5: Set Up Feeding Schedules

  1. On the device page, tap Feeding Schedule or Scheduled Feeding.
  2. Tap Add Schedule to create a new feeding time.
  3. Set the time, portion size, and which days of the week the schedule should repeat.
  4. Save the schedule. You can add multiple schedules for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  5. The feeder will dispense food automatically at the scheduled times, even if your phone is not connected.

Step 6: Enable Notifications

In the feeder's settings, enable notifications for low food level, food container removed, and dispensing completed. These alerts help you stay informed about your pet's feeding status when you are away from home.

Step 7: Voice Control and Automations

The Smart Pet Feeder C1 works with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa through the Aqara ecosystem. You can trigger feeding with voice commands like "Hey Siri, feed the cat" if you set up the appropriate scenes or shortcuts. In the Aqara Home app, you can also create automations that trigger feeding based on other Aqara sensors or time-based conditions.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the food tray and container regularly to prevent stale food buildup. Both parts are removable and washable.
  • Check the dispensing chute periodically for jammed kibble, especially if you use irregularly shaped food.
  • Keep the feeder in a dry area away from water bowls to protect the electronics.
  • If the feeder loses WiFi connection, it will continue to follow saved schedules using its internal clock.
