What You'll Need

  • GE Cync Smart Plug (Matter version)

  • Smartphone with Cync app or controller app

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Plug in the device: Insert the Cync Smart Plug into a wall outlet. The LED will begin blinking.
  2. Choose setup method: Use Matter directly or start with the Cync app.
  3. For Matter setup: Open your Matter controller app and tap "+" to add a device.
  4. Scan Matter code: Find the QR code on the plug or packaging and scan it.
  5. Wait for connection: The plug connects to your Wi-Fi via the Matter controller.
  6. Assign room: Place the plug in the appropriate room.
  7. Name the plug: Give it a descriptive name for voice control.
  8. Test operation: Toggle via app and verify the physical button works.
  9. Set schedules: Configure timers and automations as needed.

Troubleshooting

  • LED not blinking: Unplug and replug. Press and hold button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.
  • Matter pairing fails: Ensure 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Move closer to router during setup. Try factory reset.
  • Plug offline: Check Wi-Fi connection. Power cycle the plug. Remove and re-add if persistent.
  • Physical button not working: May indicate issue—try factory reset. Contact support if it continues.
  • Multiple platforms not syncing: Matter allows multi-admin. Add to each platform using the sharing/pairing process.
