What You'll Need

  • GE CYNC Smart In-Wall Outlet
  • CYNC app (iOS or Android)
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
  • Neutral wire at outlet box
  • Screwdriver and voltage tester

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Download the CYNC app and create/sign in to account
  2. Turn off power at the circuit breaker
  3. Wire the outlet:
    • Black wire to brass terminal
    • White wire to silver terminal
    • Ground wire to green terminal
  4. Install in electrical box
  5. Restore power
  6. Add to CYNC app:
    • Tap "+" to add device
    • Select "Indoor Outlets" → "In-Wall Outlet"
    • The outlet LED will pulse when ready
    • Connect to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
    • Name and assign to a room
  7. Enable voice control by linking CYNC to Alexa or Google Home

Troubleshooting

  • Won't connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure you're on 2.4GHz band, not 5GHz
  • App not finding device: Hold outlet button 10 seconds to reset, then try again
  • Intermittent connection: Check Wi-Fi signal strength at outlet location
  • Voice commands not working: Verify CYNC skill is enabled in Alexa/Google app
