Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Unbox and position: The EP40 features 6 individually controllable outlets and 3 USB ports
  2. Connect to power: Plug into a wall outlet. The Wi-Fi LED will blink amber/green when ready
  3. Open Kasa app: Tap "+" → "Smart Plugs" → "Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Power Strip EP40"
  4. Verify LED status: Confirm the LED is blinking amber and green
  5. Connect to setup network: In phone settings, join "TP-Link_Smart Strip_XXXX"
  6. Complete Wi-Fi setup: Return to the app and enter your home network credentials
  7. Customize outlets: Name each of the 6 outlets based on connected devices
  8. Set up voice assistants: Enable Alexa, Google Assistant, or SmartThings integration

Troubleshooting

  • Factory reset: Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds until LEDs blink

  • Surge protection triggered: If protection light goes out, the strip absorbed a surge and may need replacement
  • App shows offline: Check your Wi-Fi connection and try power cycling the strip
  • Schedule not working: Verify your phone's time zone matches the app settings
