What You'll Need

  • Treatlife Smart Plug (one from the 4-pack)
  • Treatlife app or Smart Life app (iOS or Android)
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Download the Treatlife app (or the Smart Life app, which is the same platform under a different name) and create an account.
  2. Plug in the first Treatlife plug. The LED should start blinking rapidly, indicating it is in pairing mode.
  3. Add the device in the app:
    • Tap "+" to add a new device
    • Select "Socket" or "Plug" from the categories
    • Confirm the LED is blinking rapidly
  4. Connect to Wi-Fi by entering your 2.4GHz network name and password.
  5. Name the plug and assign it to a room.
  6. Repeat for the other three plugs. Each one needs to be added individually. Tip: set up one at a time to avoid confusion during pairing.

Key Features

  • Built on the Tuya/Smart Life platform
  • Works with Alexa and Google Home
  • Compact form factor that fits most outlets without blocking
  • Scheduling, countdown timers, and random mode
  • Group control for managing multiple plugs at once
  • 15A/1800W capacity per plug

EZ Mode vs. AP Mode

Tuya-based plugs like the Treatlife offer two pairing methods. Knowing both helps when one does not work:

  • EZ Mode (rapid blink): This is the default and fastest method. The LED blinks quickly. The app broadcasts your Wi-Fi credentials to the plug over the air.
  • AP Mode (slow blink): If EZ Mode fails, hold the button until the LED switches to a slow blink. In AP mode, your phone connects directly to the plug's hotspot, transfers the Wi-Fi info, then the plug joins your network. More reliable but takes a bit longer.
  • When to use AP mode: Try AP mode if EZ mode fails repeatedly, or if your router has client isolation enabled, or if you have a mesh network that sometimes interferes with EZ mode pairing.

Practical Use Cases for a 4-Pack

  • Whole-room lamp control: Put a Treatlife plug on every lamp in the living room. Create a group in the app to turn them all on or off with one command.
  • Multi-room scheduling: Place plugs in different rooms and set up location-specific schedules. Bedroom lamp off at 11pm, porch light on at sunset, coffee maker on at 6am.
  • Holiday lights: At under $5 per plug, the 4-pack is perfect for controlling different strings or zones of holiday lights on independent schedules.

Troubleshooting

  • LED not blinking: Press and hold the button for 5 to 10 seconds until the LED starts blinking rapidly. This puts the plug into EZ pairing mode.
  • EZ mode setup fails: Switch to AP mode. Hold the button again until the blink pattern changes from rapid to slow. Then select "AP Mode" in the app and connect to the plug's hotspot to complete setup.
  • 5GHz network not supported: These plugs only work on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If your router uses a single combined SSID, try disabling the 5GHz band temporarily during setup.
  • Factory reset: Press and hold the button until the LED blink pattern changes. The exact timing varies, but usually 5 to 10 seconds does it. The plug returns to its default state and is ready for fresh setup.
  • Smart Life vs Treatlife app: Both apps work with these plugs since they share the same Tuya backend. Your choice does not matter, but stick with one app for all your devices to keep things simple.
