Key Features

  • One of the most affordable smart plugs on the market
  • 15A/1800W capacity
  • Works with Alexa and Google Assistant
  • Scheduling, countdown timers, and vacation mode
  • Vacation mode randomizes on/off times to simulate someone being home
  • Physical button for manual control without your phone

Voice Assistant Setup

  • Alexa: Open the Alexa app, search for the "Wyze" skill, enable it, and link your Wyze account. Your plug will appear in your Alexa device list automatically.
  • Google Home: In the Google Home app, go to "Set up device," select "Works with Google," search for Wyze, and link your account.

Practical Use Cases

  • Budget whole-home automation: At their price point, you can outfit an entire house with Wyze Plugs for what one premium smart plug costs. Use them on lamps, fans, and small appliances throughout the house.
  • Vacation security: Turn on vacation mode before a trip. The plug will turn connected lights on and off at random intervals throughout the evening, making the house look occupied.
  • Appliance timer: Use the countdown timer for things like curling irons, soldering stations, or space heaters that you do not want left on indefinitely.

Troubleshooting

  • Plug will not enter pairing mode: Press and hold the button on the side until the LED blinks blue rapidly. If it still will not blink, unplug the device for 10 seconds and try again.
  • 5GHz network not working: The Wyze Plug only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. If your router uses a combined SSID for both bands, you may need to temporarily split them or stand farther from the router during setup so your phone connects to the 2.4GHz band.
  • Plug shows offline in the app: Try power cycling the plug by unplugging it for 10 seconds. Check that your Wi-Fi network is working and that you have not changed your password recently. If the problem persists, remove the plug from the app and set it up again.
  • Schedules not triggering: Make sure the time zone in the Wyze app matches your actual location. Go to Account settings and verify the time zone. Also check that your phone's clock is set to automatic.
  • Firmware update: The Wyze app will notify you when updates are available. Go to the plug's settings page and check for firmware updates regularly to get bug fixes and new features.
