What's in the Box

Your GE Profile Smart Gas Range comes fully assembled with oven racks, a storage drawer, grates, and burner caps. The smart features are built directly into the range — no additional modules are needed. You'll use the SmartHQ app to access remote preheating, cooking notifications, and diagnostic tools. Make sure to have a qualified installer handle the gas line connection if you're not experienced with gas appliances.

Before You Begin

  • Download the SmartHQ app from the App Store or Google Play
  • Create or sign into your SmartHQ account
  • Confirm your kitchen has a 2.4GHz WiFi network available
  • Verify you have a proper gas supply line with a shutoff valve accessible behind the range
  • Ensure a grounded 120V electrical outlet is available for the range's electronic controls and ignition system
  • A licensed plumber or gas technician should handle gas line connections

Physical Installation

  1. Position the range. Slide the range into the designated cutout, making sure it sits level. Use the adjustable front legs to level the unit — check with a bubble level across the oven racks. A level range prevents uneven cooking and ensures proper oven door seal.
  2. Connect the gas supply. Attach the flexible gas connector to the range's gas inlet and the home's gas shutoff valve. Use thread sealant rated for gas connections on all threaded fittings. Turn on the gas supply and check every connection with a soap-and-water solution to detect leaks — bubbles indicate a leak that must be resolved before use.
  3. Plug in the range. Connect the power cord to a dedicated, grounded 120V outlet. The electrical connection powers the electronic controls, oven light, clock, and spark ignition system.
  4. Test the burners. Turn each burner knob to the light position and verify the igniter clicks and the burner lights. Test the oven by setting it to 350 degrees and confirming it reaches temperature.

WiFi and SmartHQ Setup

  1. Enable WiFi on the range. Access the WiFi settings on the range's control panel or display. Hold the WiFi button until the indicator flashes, putting the range into pairing mode.
  2. Open the SmartHQ app. Tap Add Appliance and select your GE Profile range model. Scan the connected appliance QR code found inside the oven door or on the range's data plate.
  3. Enter WiFi credentials. Select your 2.4GHz WiFi network and enter the password. The range will connect to your network within about a minute.
  4. Confirm the connection. The WiFi indicator should turn solid, and the SmartHQ app will show your range as connected with real-time status.

Smart Home Integration

Link your SmartHQ account to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-activated commands. Preheat the oven remotely from the SmartHQ app so it's ready when you get home. Receive notifications when the oven reaches the target temperature or when a cooking timer expires. The app also provides guided cooking modes and access to diagnostic codes, which can save time and money by identifying issues before scheduling a service call.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the range doesn't connect to WiFi, confirm the WiFi indicator is blinking (pairing mode) and that you're using a 2.4GHz network. If the SmartHQ app can't find the appliance, restart the pairing process and make sure your phone is on the same network. If the gas burners don't ignite, check that the gas supply valve is fully open and that the burner caps and grates are seated correctly — misaligned caps can prevent proper ignition. For persistent ignition issues, clean the igniter ports with a soft brush to remove debris.
