What's in the Box

Your LG Smart Gas Range with InstaView includes the range unit with InstaView window, cooking grates, griddle plate (model-dependent), LP conversion kit for propane use, anti-tip bracket, power cord, and user documentation. Some models include an air fry tray. Before beginning installation, confirm all accessories are present and check the range surface for any shipping damage. Keep the packaging until you've verified the unit operates correctly.

Prerequisites

Gas range installation requires a dedicated gas supply line with a shut-off valve and a standard 120V grounded electrical outlet for the electronic controls, oven light, and WiFi connectivity. Measure your kitchen cutout to ensure the range fits properly, with adequate clearance from combustible surfaces as specified in the installation guide. You'll need an adjustable wrench and a gas-rated flexible connector if one wasn't included. For safety, have a gas leak detection solution or soapy water ready to test connections. Download the LG ThinQ app before starting setup.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Install the anti-tip bracket on the wall or floor behind the range's installation location. This is a critical safety requirement that prevents the range from tipping forward when weight is applied to an open oven door.
  2. If converting from natural gas to LP (propane), install the LP conversion kit following the instructions included in the kit before connecting the gas line. This involves replacing orifices and adjusting the regulator.
  3. Slide the range into position but leave enough space to access the rear connections. Connect the gas supply line using a CSA-approved flexible connector. Apply pipe joint compound or gas-rated tape to threaded connections.
  4. Turn on the gas supply valve and test all connections with soapy water or leak detection fluid. If bubbles form at any connection point, turn off the gas, tighten the connection, and retest.
  5. Plug the range into the grounded 120V outlet. Do not use an extension cord or adapter.
  6. Slide the range fully into position, ensuring it engages with the anti-tip bracket. Verify the range is level using the adjustable leveling legs.
  7. Place the cooking grates and any included accessories on the cooktop.
  8. Test each burner by turning the knob to the "Lite" position. You should hear the igniter clicking and the burner should light within a few seconds. Test the oven by setting it to 350 degrees F and confirming it heats up.
  9. Activate the InstaView window by knocking twice on the oven door glass. The interior light should turn on, letting you check on food without opening the door and losing heat.

Pairing with the LG ThinQ App

Open the LG ThinQ app and tap the "+" button to add a new appliance. Select "Range" from the product categories. On the range's control panel, press and hold the WiFi button for three seconds until the WiFi indicator blinks. The app will walk you through selecting your 2.4GHz WiFi network and entering your password. Once connected, the ThinQ app lets you monitor cooking status, preheat the oven remotely, receive alerts when preheating is complete, and access LG's recipe library with one-touch oven settings.

Smart Home Integration Tips

Link your LG ThinQ account with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice control. You can say "Hey Google, preheat the oven to 400 degrees" or "Alexa, ask LG to check oven status." For safety, some functions like turning on burners cannot be activated remotely. The ThinQ app also provides proactive maintenance alerts and cooking notifications. Use the InstaView knock feature frequently to check on food, as each time you open the oven door the temperature drops by approximately 25 degrees.

Quick Troubleshooting

If burners won't light, ensure the gas supply valve is fully open and the burner caps are properly seated. Clean igniters with a dry toothbrush if they click but don't spark. If the range won't connect to WiFi, confirm you're using a 2.4GHz network and that the range is within router range. Power-cycle the range by unplugging for 30 seconds if the WiFi indicator won't respond. Use the ThinQ app's Smart Diagnosis feature by holding your phone near the range's speaker to transmit diagnostic data if persistent issues occur.
