What You Will Need
- Samsung Bespoke AI Slide-In Induction Range (installed and connected to power)
- SmartThings app (iOS or Android) with a Samsung account
- A 2.4 GHz WiFi network
- Your WiFi network name (SSID) and password
Step 1: Complete Physical Installation First
Before setting up smart features, ensure the range is fully installed according to the installation manual:
- The range must be connected to the proper electrical circuit (typically a 240V dedicated circuit for induction ranges).
- Verify the range powers on and all burners and the oven function correctly.
- Allow the range to complete its initial startup sequence, which may take a few minutes on first power-up.
Step 2: Connect to WiFi on the Range
- On the range's control panel or display, navigate to Settings or look for the WiFi icon.
- Select WiFi Setup or Network Settings.
- The range will scan for available networks. Select your 2.4 GHz WiFi network. Most Samsung smart appliances do not support 5 GHz.
- Enter your WiFi password using the on-screen keyboard.
- Wait for the range to connect. A WiFi indicator on the display will confirm a successful connection.
Step 3: Add the Range in the SmartThings App
- Open the SmartThings app and tap the + icon, then select Add Device.
- Tap Samsung, then select Range or Cooking Appliance.
- The app will search for the range on your network. If it does not appear, ensure the range is connected to the same WiFi network as your phone.
- Once found, tap to add the range. Accept any terms of service and permissions.
- Name the appliance (e.g., "Kitchen Range") and assign it to a room.
Step 4: Explore Smart Features
The Samsung Bespoke AI range offers several smart capabilities through the SmartThings app:
- Remote Monitoring — Check whether the oven is on or off, view the current temperature, and receive alerts when preheating is complete or cooking is done.
- Cooking Guides — Access recipes and cooking programs that automatically set the correct oven temperature and cooking time.
- Notifications — Receive alerts if a burner is left on or if the oven has been running for an extended time.
- Remote Control — Turn the oven off remotely (note: for safety, most ranges do not allow remote turn-on for the first use; you must enable remote start from the control panel).
- Voice Control — Use Alexa, Google Assistant, or Bixby to check oven status, set timers, and control compatible functions.
Step 5: Enable Remote Start (Optional)
To use remote control features, you must enable Remote Start on the range itself:
- On the range's control panel, find and enable the Remote Start or Smart Control option.
- This setting typically needs to be re-enabled each time you want to use remote control, as a safety precaution.
- Once enabled, you can preheat the oven or adjust settings from the SmartThings app.
Tips for Best Performance
- The range connects directly via WiFi — no SmartThings Hub is required.
- Keep the range's firmware updated for the latest features and bug fixes. Updates are delivered automatically through the WiFi connection.
- If the WiFi connection drops, the range continues to operate normally as a standard appliance. Only smart features are affected.
- For security, review and manage connected users in the SmartThings app. Only authorized family members should have control access.
- Smart features are most useful for monitoring — you will still perform most cooking operations directly on the range for safety reasons.
