The Anova Precision Cooker Pro is a WiFi-enabled sous vide device for precision cooking. This guide covers connectivity, heating, and app control issues.

Cooker Not Connecting to WiFi

Symptoms

  • WiFi setup fails in app
  • Shows offline after setup
  • Bluetooth connects but WiFi doesn't

Solutions

  1. Use Anova app - Download the Anova Culinary app for setup.
  2. 2.4GHz network - Anova only supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks.
  3. Bluetooth first - Connect via Bluetooth before attempting WiFi setup.
  4. Factory reset - Hold button combination specified in manual to reset WiFi.
  5. Network credentials - Double-check WiFi password during setup.

Not Heating Properly

Symptoms

  • Takes forever to heat
  • Doesn't reach target temperature
  • Temperature fluctuates

Solutions

  1. Water level - Ensure water is between min and max marks on the device.
  2. Cover the container - Use lid or plastic wrap to reduce heat loss.
  3. Insulate container - Large pots lose heat faster. Use insulated container or wrap in towel.
  4. Check heating element - Scale buildup reduces efficiency. Clean with vinegar solution.
  5. Pre-heat water - Start with hot tap water to reduce heating time.

Water Circulation Issues

Symptoms

  • Pump not running
  • Weak circulation
  • Error messages about flow

Solutions

  1. Check water level - Low water triggers safety shutoff. Add more water.
  2. Clear inlet - Bags or debris may block water intake. Reposition bags.
  3. Descale device - Mineral buildup affects pump. Run with vinegar/water solution.
  4. Container size - Use appropriate container size for water volume and food amount.

App and Remote Control

Symptoms

  • Can't start cook remotely
  • App shows device offline
  • Timer not syncing

Solutions

  1. WiFi required for remote - Remote start only works via WiFi, not Bluetooth.
  2. Safety feature - Must confirm water and food are in place for remote start.
  3. App refresh - Pull down in app to refresh connection status.
  4. Re-register device - Remove and re-add device in app if issues persist.

Voice Control

Symptoms

  • Alexa/Google can't find Anova
  • Voice commands not working

Solutions

  1. Link account - Enable Anova skill in Alexa or link in Google Home.
  2. Device naming - Rename to simple name like "Sous Vide" for easier voice control.
  3. Supported commands - "Set sous vide to 140 degrees" or "Start cooking."
  4. WiFi connection - Device must be on WiFi for voice control.
