Eaton smart receptacles offer in-wall outlet control via WiFi or Z-Wave. This guide covers installation and connectivity issues.

WiFi Outlet Setup

  1. Turn off breaker before installation
  2. Requires neutral wire connection
  3. Use Eaton Home app for pairing
  4. Device requires 2.4GHz WiFi
  5. LED indicates connection status

Z-Wave Outlet Pairing

  1. Install outlet with power off
  2. Restore power after installation
  3. Put Z-Wave hub in inclusion mode
  4. Press outlet button to pair
  5. May need exclusion if previously paired

Outlet Not Responding

  1. Check breaker and wiring connections
  2. Verify LED shows expected status
  3. Try manual button on outlet
  4. Z-Wave: Check hub connectivity
  5. WiFi: Check network status

Only One Socket Controlled

  1. Most models control top outlet only
  2. Bottom outlet may be always-on
  3. Check model specifications
  4. Both controlled on some models
  5. Design allows always-on for essentials

SmartThings Integration

  1. Z-Wave version pairs directly with hub
  2. WiFi version needs cloud connection
  3. Appears as switch/outlet device
  4. Include in automations and scenes

Home Assistant Setup

  1. Z-Wave: Add via ZHA or Z-Wave JS
  2. WiFi: May require cloud integration
  3. Creates switch entity for outlet
  4. Can monitor if outlet supports energy
