Appliance Not Connecting to WiFi

Symptoms

  • Appliance not found in app
  • WiFi setup fails
  • Shows as disconnected

Solutions

  1. Use SmartHQ app - Download GE SmartHQ app for appliance setup.
  2. 2.4GHz network - GE appliances only support 2.4GHz WiFi.
  3. Enable WiFi on appliance - Check appliance settings to enable WiFi radio.
  4. Reset WiFi - Find WiFi reset in appliance settings menu.
  5. Router close by - During setup, ensure strong WiFi signal at appliance location.

Washer Dryer Combo Specific Issues

Symptoms

  • Remote start won't work
  • Cycle notifications not received
  • Can't monitor progress remotely

Solutions

  1. Remote enable - Must press Remote Enable on appliance before using remote start.
  2. Door closed - Door must be closed for remote start to work.
  3. Check notifications - Enable notifications in SmartHQ app.
  4. App background - Allow SmartHQ to run in background for real-time updates.

Smart Microwave Issues

Symptoms

  • Scan to Cook not working
  • Voice commands fail
  • Timer not syncing

Solutions

  1. Scan to Cook - Scan UPC barcode on frozen food packaging. Not all products supported.
  2. Voice control - Link SmartHQ with Alexa or Google for voice commands.
  3. Update firmware - Check SmartHQ for appliance software updates.
  4. Network stability - Microwave needs stable WiFi for remote features.

Voice Assistant Integration

Symptoms

  • Alexa/Google can't control appliance
  • Only status, no control
  • Account linking fails

Solutions

  1. Link SmartHQ - Enable GE SmartHQ skill in Alexa or link in Google Home.
  2. Discover devices - After linking, discover devices in voice assistant.
  3. Limited control - Some functions aren't available via voice for safety.
  4. Re-link account - Unlink and re-link if control stops working.

Troubleshooting Connection Drops

Symptoms

  • Appliance frequently goes offline
  • Loses WiFi after power outage
  • Intermittent connectivity

Solutions

  1. Check signal strength - May need WiFi extender if appliance is far from router.
  2. Router settings - Disable band steering and ensure stable 2.4GHz network.
  3. IP reservation - Create DHCP reservation for appliance in router settings.
  4. Power cycle - Turn appliance off for 60 seconds, then back on.
