Geeni smart power strips and surge protectors offer individual outlet control via WiFi. This guide covers connectivity and outlet control issues.
Power Strip Not Connecting
Symptoms
- Not found in Geeni app
- LED blinks but won't connect
- Setup times out
Solutions
- Use Geeni app - Download official Geeni app for setup.
- 2.4GHz network - Only supports 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz.
- Pairing mode - Hold button until LED blinks rapidly (fast blink mode).
- AP mode - If fast blink fails, hold 10 seconds for slow blink (AP mode).
- Permissions - Enable location permission for Geeni app during setup.
Individual Outlets Not Responding
Symptoms
- Some outlets work, others don't
- Can't control specific outlets
- All outlets respond together
Solutions
- Check outlet mapping - Each outlet appears as separate device in app.
- Master outlet - Some strips have always-on outlets. Check product specs.
- Rename outlets - Give each outlet a unique name for easy identification.
- USB ports - USB ports may not be individually controllable.
Surge Protection
Symptoms
- Surge indicator off
- Strip stopped working after surge
- No protection indicator
Solutions
- Check LED - Surge protection LED indicates active protection.
- After surge - If surge occurred, protection may be sacrificed. Replace strip.
- Joule rating - Check specifications for protection level.
- Replace if tripped - Some surge protectors are one-time use after major surge.
Voice Control
Symptoms
- Voice assistant can't find outlets
- Wrong outlet responds
- Can't control individually
Solutions
- Link account - Enable Geeni skill in Alexa or link in Google Home.
- Discover devices - After linking, discover devices in voice assistant.
- Clear names - Name outlets uniquely: "Desk Lamp", "Monitor", etc.
- Groups - Create groups if you want to control all outlets together.
