Litter-Robot automatic litter boxes have WiFi connectivity for monitoring and control. This guide covers common issues.
Unit Won't Connect to WiFi
Setup issues:
- Whisker app: Use Whisker app for Litter-Robot 4
- 2.4GHz only: Only connects to 2.4GHz WiFi
- Onboarding: Follow in-app setup process
- Reset WiFi: Reset and reconfigure if stuck
- Signal: Move closer to router if weak signal
Not Cycling Properly
Rotation issues:
- Cat sensor: May think cat is inside - check sensor
- Overweight: Too much litter can prevent cycling
- Obstruction: Check for obstructions in globe
- DFI sensor: Clean drawer full indicator sensors
- Motor: Listen for motor struggling
Drawer Full Issues
When drawer indicator is wrong:
- Sensor cleaning: Clean DFI sensors in waste drawer area
- Bag position: Ensure bag doesn't block sensors
- False readings: Dust can trigger false full reading
- Calibration: May need DFI calibration
Cat Detection
Weight sensor issues:
- Minimum weight: Cats need to be 5+ lbs
- Sensor calibration: Calibrate weight sensors
- Multiple cats: Tracks usage by weight (Litter-Robot 4)
- Wait time: Adjust wait time before cycling
App Features
Using the Whisker app:
- Usage tracking: Monitor cat bathroom habits
