Third Reality offers affordable Zigbee and Matter sensors and plugs. This guide covers common issues with their devices.
Zigbee Device Won't Pair
Pairing issues:
- Reset device: Hold button until LED flashes rapidly
- Hub pairing mode: Enable pairing on hub before device reset
- Close to coordinator: Pair near hub initially
- Remove previous: Exclude from any previous network
- Battery: Use fresh batteries for sensors
Motion Sensor Issues
For Third Reality motion sensors:
- Detection range: PIR sensor has specific range/angle
- Cooldown: Sensor has reset time between detections
- Temperature: PIR may be less sensitive in hot environments
- Mounting: Avoid pointing at heat sources or windows
- Battery: CR123A battery - replace when motion sluggish
Door/Window Sensor
Contact sensor issues:
- Magnet alignment: Sensor and magnet must align when closed
- Gap distance: Keep within specified gap distance
- Surface mounting: Use included adhesive or screws
- Battery: Replace battery when reporting stops
Matter Smart Plug
For Matter-enabled devices:
- Matter QR: Use QR code on device or packaging
- Any Matter controller: Works with Apple Home, Google, Alexa, HA
- Thread: Matter devices may use Thread or WiFi
- Factory reset: Hold button 10+ seconds for Matter reset
Home Assistant Integration
