Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen)

The Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) delivers Alexa voice assistant functionality in a compact, affordable package with improved audio quality over previous generations. The spherical design houses a 1.73-inch front-firing speaker that produces surprisingly full sound for its size, with improved bass response compared to the 4th generation.

Built-in Eero WiFi mesh extender capability helps improve coverage in your existing Eero network. Bluetooth connectivity enables streaming from mobile devices, while Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support facilitates setup and some smart home device connections. The temperature sensor provides ambient readings for Alexa routines.

This standard Echo Dot model does not include the built-in Zigbee hub found in larger Echo devices. Matter and Thread support require a separate compatible hub or controller. However, the Dot controls thousands of WiFi-connected smart home devices through cloud-based Alexa integration.

Alexa enables voice control of compatible devices, music playback, smart home routines, timers, information queries, and over 100,000 skills. Tap controls on top allow manual volume adjustment and microphone muting for privacy. The LED light ring indicates Alexa status. Multiple Echo Dots can create multi-room audio throughout your home.
