The IKEA DIRIGERA is the heart of IKEA's smart home ecosystem, serving as a central hub that connects and controls all IKEA smart products through the IKEA Home smart app. The hub supports both Zigbee and Thread protocols, and following a major 2025 software update, now functions as a full Matter Controller and Thread Border Router, enabling integration with smart home devices from other manufacturers.

As a Matter Bridge, DIRIGERA exposes all connected IKEA Zigbee devices (lights, blinds, sensors, plugs) to Matter-compatible platforms including Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. The Matter Controller functionality allows DIRIGERA to onboard and manage third-party Matter devices directly through the IKEA Home smart app. The Thread Border Router capability creates a mesh network for Thread-based devices, improving range and reliability.

The hub connects to your home network via Ethernet (required even after setup) and features WiFi and Bluetooth radios for additional connectivity options. Through the IKEA Home smart app, create automations, schedules, and scenes that coordinate multiple devices. The hub supports up to 100+ connected devices and receives regular firmware updates that add features and improve compatibility. The compact design fits discreetly in any room.
