The Aqara Door & Window Sensor P2 is a next-generation contact sensor that uses Thread protocol with native Matter support, enabling direct connection to Matter controllers without requiring an Aqara-specific hub. This makes it one of the most versatile and future-proof contact sensors available, working seamlessly with Apple HomePod, Apple TV 4K, Samsung SmartThings Station, Google Nest Hub, Amazon Echo (4th gen and later), and other Thread Border Routers.

The P2's compact design measures just 31 x 17 x 7.35mm for the sensor body and 22 x 8.2 x 7.35mm for the magnet, making it one of the smallest contact sensors on the market. Despite its tiny size, the CR1632 battery delivers an impressive 2-year lifespan. The sensor operates across a wide temperature range from -10 to 50 degrees Celsius and can withstand humidity levels up to 95% RH, suitable for various indoor environments including bathrooms and basements.

As a Matter over Thread device, the P2 establishes direct, local connections with your smart home platform without relying on Aqara's cloud services. The Thread mesh network provides exceptional reliability and range extension through other Thread devices. Setup is streamlined with the standard Matter QR code pairing process, and the sensor works with any Matter-compatible app or platform.
