What You'll Need

  • Aqara Air Quality Monitor T1
  • Aqara Hub (M2 or M3)
  • Aqara Home app
  • USB-C charger

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Charge the monitor: Connect USB-C cable and charge until full.
  2. Ensure hub is set up: The T1 requires an Aqara hub already configured on your network.
  3. Open Aqara Home app: Navigate to devices.
  4. Add accessory: Tap "+" and select "Air Quality Monitor T1."
  5. Put device in pairing mode: Press and hold the button on the T1 until the LED blinks.
  6. Wait for connection: The app will find and connect to the device via Zigbee.
  7. Name and place: Give it a name and assign to a room.
  8. Position the monitor: Place at breathing height (3-5 feet) away from windows and vents.
  9. View readings: The e-ink display shows TVOC, temperature, and humidity.
  10. Create automations: Set up rules like "turn on air purifier when TVOC is high."

Key Features

  • TVOC, temperature, and humidity sensors
  • E-ink display (always visible)
  • Rechargeable battery (6-month life)
  • Zigbee 3.0 connectivity
  • Matter compatible (via hub)
  • HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home support
  • Automation triggers

Troubleshooting

  • Not pairing: Bring closer to hub. Reset by holding button 10 seconds.
  • TVOC readings very high: New construction or cleaning products cause high VOCs. Ventilate the room.
  • Display not updating: E-ink refreshes slowly by design. Data in app is real-time.
  • Battery draining fast: Frequent automations increase power use. Reduce polling if possible.
