What's in the Box
The Govee AI Gaming Sync Box Kit typically includes the AI Sync Box unit, an HDMI cable, a camera or light bar component (depending on the specific kit version), a power adapter, mounting hardware, and a quick start guide. The AI Sync Box analyzes your screen content in real time using an HDMI passthrough and artificial intelligence to project matching ambient colors onto your compatible Govee lights, creating an immersive gaming and movie-watching experience.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the Govee AI Gaming Sync Box Kit, ensure you have:
- A TV or monitor with an available HDMI input
- A gaming console, streaming device, or PC with HDMI output
- Compatible Govee lights already set up (RGBIC strips, light bars, or other sync-compatible Govee products)
- The Govee Home app installed on your iOS or Android device
- A 2.4GHz WiFi network (the Sync Box uses WiFi for communication with lights)
- A Govee account set up in the app
- A power outlet near your TV or entertainment center
Step-by-Step Setup
- Connect your gaming console or streaming device's HDMI output cable to the HDMI IN port on the Govee AI Sync Box.
- Use the included HDMI cable to connect the HDMI OUT port on the Sync Box to your TV's HDMI input.
- Plug the power adapter into the Sync Box and connect it to a wall outlet. The device will power on automatically.
- If your kit includes a camera, mount it centered on top of your TV facing the screen. If it includes light bars or strips, mount those on the back of the TV according to the included diagram.
- Open the Govee Home app and tap + to add a new device. Search for the AI Gaming Sync Box or scan the QR code on the device.
- Follow the in-app prompts to connect the Sync Box to your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
- Once connected, the app will guide you through linking your compatible Govee lights to the Sync Box. Select the lights you want to sync.
- Use the app's calibration tool to map the position of each light relative to your screen. This step tells the AI which screen zones correspond to which lights.
- Turn on a colorful video or game and test the sync effect. Adjust brightness, saturation, and color intensity in the app to your preference.
App Pairing and Configuration
The Govee Home app is essential for the AI Gaming Sync Box setup and ongoing use. Through the app, you can switch between different sync modes including Video Mode for movies and shows, Gaming Mode with lower latency optimized for fast-paced games, and Music Mode that syncs lights to audio. The AI processing analyzes content in real time to identify dominant colors and movement patterns on screen, producing smoother and more accurate lighting effects than camera-based solutions alone.
If you have Matter-compatible Govee lights, the Sync Box may also support them. Check the Govee Home app for the latest compatible devices list under the Sync Box settings.
Smart Home Integration Tips
- Voice control: Link your Govee account to Alexa or Google Assistant to turn the Sync Box on and off with voice commands, or switch between lighting modes.
- Automation: Set up routines in the Govee Home app to automatically enable sync mode when the Sync Box detects an active HDMI signal.
- Multiple HDMI sources: If you have multiple consoles or devices, consider an HDMI switch before the Sync Box input so you can easily swap between sources without re-cabling.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the Sync Box shows no video output, make sure your HDMI cables are firmly connected and that your TV is set to the correct HDMI input. If lights don't sync accurately, re-run the calibration tool in the app. For latency issues during gaming, switch to Gaming Mode which prioritizes speed. If the Sync Box won't connect to WiFi, power cycle it by unplugging for 10 seconds and try again on a 2.4GHz network.
