What's in the Box

The Govee Ceiling Light Ultra package includes the ceiling light fixture, a mounting bracket, a set of screws and anchors, a power adapter or hardwire connector (depending on the model variant), and a quick start guide. The Ceiling Light Ultra features RGBICWW technology that allows multicolor gradients across the light surface along with tunable warm-to-cool white temperatures, making it suitable for both functional room lighting and ambient mood effects.

Prerequisites

Before beginning installation, ensure you have:

  • A ceiling junction box or an existing ceiling light location with power
  • Basic tools: a screwdriver, a step ladder, and optionally a voltage tester
  • A 2.4GHz WiFi network
  • The Govee Home app installed on your iOS or Android device
  • A Govee account created in the app
  • Bluetooth enabled on your phone for initial pairing

If your model requires hardwiring, turn off the power at the circuit breaker before working with any electrical wires. If you are not comfortable with electrical wiring, hire a licensed electrician for the mounting step.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker if you're replacing an existing ceiling fixture or hardwiring the light.
  2. Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling junction box using the included screws. Make sure the bracket is firmly secured and level.
  3. Connect the wiring according to the included wiring diagram: match the black (hot) wire to black, white (neutral) to white, and green or bare copper (ground) to the ground terminal. Secure connections with wire nuts and tuck them into the junction box.
  4. Align the ceiling light unit with the mounting bracket and twist or snap it into place according to the model's locking mechanism.
  5. Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. The light should illuminate and begin a pairing indicator pattern (typically pulsing or color cycling).
  6. Open the Govee Home app and tap + to add a new device.
  7. Select the Ceiling Light Ultra from the device list or scan the QR code from the quick start guide.
  8. The app will discover the light via Bluetooth first, then prompt you to connect it to your 2.4GHz WiFi network. Enter your WiFi password when asked.
  9. Once connected, name the light and assign it to a room. Test basic controls like brightness, color temperature, and color modes.

App Pairing and Features

The Govee Home app provides full control over the Ceiling Light Ultra. You can adjust brightness from 1 to 100 percent, select from millions of colors, switch between dozens of preset scenes, and use the music sync feature to pulse colors in time with audio. The app also lets you set schedules and timers, so the light can turn on automatically in the morning with a warm white and shift to a cooler tone during the day. The RGBICWW technology means the light can display multiple colors across its surface simultaneously, perfect for ambient effects.

Smart Home Integration Tips

  • Voice assistants: Link your Govee account to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant through their respective apps. You can then use commands like "Alexa, set the bedroom light to warm white" or "Hey Google, dim the ceiling light to 40 percent."
  • Matter support: Check the Govee Home app and product specifications to see if your specific Ceiling Light Ultra model supports Matter. If it does, you can add it to Apple Home, Google Home, or SmartThings natively for multi-platform control.
  • Routines: Incorporate the light into bedtime or wake-up routines. A gradual brightness increase in the morning can serve as a natural sunrise alarm.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the light doesn't power on after installation, double-check all wiring connections and confirm the circuit breaker is on. If the light won't enter pairing mode, turn it off and on via the wall switch five times quickly with one-second intervals. Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled and you're standing within a few feet of the light during the initial pairing. If the light loses WiFi connection after setup, verify your router is broadcasting on 2.4GHz and that the signal reaches the room where the light is installed.
