What's in the Box

The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro package includes a set of weatherproof RGBIC LED light segments, a controller box, a power supply, mounting clips and screws, extension connectors (if applicable for your length), and a quick start guide. These lights are designed to be installed once and left in place year-round, providing accent lighting for rooflines, eaves, fences, and other outdoor architectural features. Each LED is individually addressable, allowing multicolor patterns and effects across the entire length.

Prerequisites

Before installation, gather the following:

  • A measuring tape to confirm the total length needed for your installation area
  • A ladder tall enough to safely reach your mounting location (roofline, eaves, etc.)
  • A drill or screwdriver for securing the mounting clips
  • An outdoor power outlet near the starting point of the lights
  • A 2.4GHz WiFi network with signal that reaches the controller box location
  • The Govee Home app installed on your phone with a Govee account ready
  • A helper for holding segments in place while you mount clips along rooflines

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Plan your layout by measuring the roofline or area where the lights will be installed. Note the location of corners and the starting point near your outdoor power outlet.
  2. Install the mounting clips along the path first, spacing them approximately 12 inches apart for a secure hold. Pre-drill pilot holes if mounting into hard surfaces like wood fascia or stucco.
  3. Starting from the controller box end, snap each light segment into the mounting clips, working your way along the roofline. If your kit includes multiple segments, connect them using the weatherproof connectors as you go.
  4. Connect the light segments to the controller box and plug the power supply into your outdoor outlet. The controller's indicator light should begin blinking to show it's in pairing mode.
  5. Open the Govee Home app and tap + to add a new device. Select the Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro from the list or scan the QR code.
  6. Follow the in-app prompts to connect via Bluetooth first, then join your 2.4GHz WiFi network.
  7. The app will ask you to configure your layout by entering the number of LED segments and the overall arrangement (straight line, L-shape, U-shape, etc.). This helps the app map effects accurately across the full length.
  8. Test the lights by selecting different scene modes and colors in the app.

App Pairing and Customization

The Govee Home app is where the Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro really shine. You can choose from dozens of preset scenes designed for holidays, seasons, and everyday ambiance. The DIY mode lets you assign specific colors to individual segments, so you can create custom patterns for any occasion. Set schedules to have warm white lights illuminate your roofline every evening at sunset and turn off at midnight, then switch to festive red and green during the holiday season. The app also supports music sync mode using your phone's microphone for parties and celebrations.

Smart Home Integration Tips

  • Voice control: Link Govee Home to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for hands-free commands like "Alexa, turn on the roofline lights" or "Hey Google, set outdoor lights to party mode."
  • Seasonal automations: Create saved scenes for different holidays and switch between them with a single tap instead of reconfiguring each time.
  • Sunrise and sunset triggers: Set the lights to turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn using the schedule feature in the Govee Home app, so your home always looks welcoming after dark.

Quick Troubleshooting

If sections of the lights don't illuminate, check that all segment connectors are fully seated and locked. Moisture can sometimes interfere with connections, so inspect any exposed connector joints. If the controller won't pair, unplug it for 10 seconds, plug it back in, and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. Make sure your WiFi signal is strong enough at the controller's outdoor location. You can test signal strength by checking your phone's WiFi at that spot. If the signal is weak, consider a WiFi extender or mesh network node near the installation area.
