What You'll Need

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Install Batteries: Insert two AA batteries into the Wave Plus. The LED ring will light up briefly.
  2. Download Airthings App: Install the Airthings app from the App Store or Google Play.
  3. Create Account: Sign up for an Airthings account or log in to an existing one.
  4. Enable Location (Android): Android requires location permission for Bluetooth LE. Enable this in settings.
  5. Add Device: In the app, tap (+) and select Wave Plus from the device list.
  6. Hold Phone Near Device: Bring your phone within Bluetooth range (about 10 feet) of the Wave Plus.
  7. Complete Pairing: Follow the on-screen instructions to pair the device.
  8. Mount the Device: Install the Wave Plus on a wall or place on a shelf. Avoid corners and areas near windows.

Troubleshooting

  • Bluetooth won't connect: Toggle Bluetooth off and on in Settings (not the quick menu). Restart your phone if needed.
  • Android location permission: This is required for Bluetooth LE on Android. Airthings does not collect location data.
  • Radon shows dashes: Radon calibration takes 7 days for initial reading, 30+ days for accurate long-term data.
  • Need continuous monitoring: Add an Airthings Hub or View Plus to enable 24/7 cloud connectivity via SmartLink.
  • Data only syncs when nearby: Without a hub, data syncs via Bluetooth only when your phone is in range.
