What You Will Need
- Amazon Echo Show 15
- Smartphone with the Alexa app installed
- Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz or 5GHz)
- Power adapter (included)
- Wall mount hardware (included) or an optional stand accessory
- An Amazon account
- A drill, level, and screwdriver (for wall mounting)
Step 1: Decide on Placement
The Echo Show 15 has a 15.6-inch Full HD display designed to be wall-mounted like a digital picture frame or placed on a counter with an optional stand.
- For wall mounting, choose a location at eye level in a high-traffic area such as a kitchen or hallway. The device can be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation.
- For counter placement, purchase the optional Echo Show 15 stand. Place it on a stable flat surface with easy access to a power outlet.
- Ensure a power outlet is within reach of the included power cable. The cable exits from the bottom of the device.
Step 2: Wall Mount Installation
- Use the included wall mount template to mark drill holes on the wall. Use a level to ensure the template is straight.
- Drill holes at the marked locations and insert the included wall anchors if mounting on drywall. For stud mounting, screw directly into the stud.
- Attach the wall mount bracket to the wall using the included screws.
- Hang the Echo Show 15 on the bracket. The device should click into place securely.
- Route the power cable down the wall to the nearest outlet. Use cable clips or a cable channel for a clean appearance.
Step 3: Power On and Initial Setup
- Connect the power adapter and plug it into a wall outlet. The screen will display the Amazon logo.
- Select your language on the touchscreen.
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network. The Echo Show 15 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
- Sign in to your Amazon account using the on-screen keyboard or by entering a code at amazon.com/code on another device.
- Confirm your time zone and location.
- The device will check for software updates and may restart during this process.
Step 4: Set Up Visual ID and Household Profiles
The Echo Show 15 supports Visual ID, which uses the front-facing camera to recognize household members and display personalized content.
- During setup, you will be prompted to enroll in Visual ID. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan your face from multiple angles.
- Each household member can create their own Visual ID profile so the display shows their personal calendar, reminders, and sticky notes when they walk up.
- To add more profiles later, go to Settings > Your Profile & Family in the Alexa app.
Step 5: Customize Your Home Screen with Widgets
- The Echo Show 15 features a widget-based home screen. Swipe right or long-press on the home screen to enter edit mode.
- Tap Add Widget to browse available widgets including calendar, reminders, sticky notes, smart home favorites, shopping list, weather, and more.
- Drag widgets to rearrange them on the large display. The 15.6-inch screen accommodates multiple widgets side by side.
- Tap Done when you are satisfied with the layout.
Step 6: Configure the Family Hub Features
- Add a Shared Family Calendar widget to display everyone's events. Link calendars from Google, Apple, or Microsoft in the Alexa app under Settings > Calendar & Email.
- Use Sticky Notes to leave messages for family members. Say "Alexa, leave a sticky note" or tap the sticky note widget.
- Add the Shopping List widget so the whole family can see and add items. Say "Alexa, add milk to the shopping list."
- Set up Reminders for individual family members that display when their Visual ID is recognized.
Tips
- Enable Photo Frame mode to display your Amazon Photos collection when the screen is idle. Go to Settings > Home Screen > Photo Frame to choose albums.
- The Echo Show 15 works well as a recipe display. Say "Alexa, show me slow cooker recipes" to browse hands-free while cooking.
- Pin your most-used smart home controls to a Smart Home Favorites widget for quick one-tap access to lights, thermostats, and cameras.
- For the best audio experience, consider pairing the Echo Show 15 with an Echo speaker or soundbar using the Alexa app's speaker pairing feature.
