How to Set Up Your Anova Precision Cooker 3.0

What You'll Need

  • Anova Precision Cooker 3.0
  • Pot or container at least 4.25 inches (11cm) deep
  • Smartphone with Anova Culinary app
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5GHz)

Step 1: Download the App

Download the Anova Culinary app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account or sign in to your existing account.

Step 2: Prepare for Pairing

Ensure your phone is connected to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5GHz). Enable Bluetooth on your phone. For Android users, also enable Location Services as required for Wi-Fi setup.

Step 3: Pair the Cooker

In the app, go to "Connected Devices" and tap "Connect My Anova." Select "Precision Cooker 3.0" from the list. Hold down the Timer and Minus (-) buttons on the cooker until a 4-digit code appears on the display. Verify this code matches what's shown in the app, then press any button on the cooker to confirm.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

The app will prompt you to select your Wi-Fi network. Choose your 2.4GHz network and enter the password. Wait 1-2 minutes for the connection to establish.

Step 5: Attach to Your Container

Fill your pot or container with water. Attach the Anova to the side using the adjustable clamp - twist the lower knob clockwise to tighten. Ensure the water level is between the MIN and MAX lines on the stainless steel sleeve.

Step 6: Start Cooking

Set your target temperature using the app or the controls on the device. Press Start to begin heating. The Anova will circulate and heat the water to your precise temperature.

Using the App

  • Remote Control: Start, stop, and monitor cooking from anywhere
  • Recipes: Access thousands of sous vide recipes with guided cooking
  • Notifications: Get alerts when water reaches temperature or cook is complete
  • Temperature History: View graphs of your cook over time

Troubleshooting

  • Won't connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure you're using 2.4GHz network (not 5GHz); check password accuracy
  • Pairing code not appearing: Force quit the app, unplug the cooker, then restart the process
  • Factory Reset: Hold Timer and Minus buttons for 10 seconds until you hear a tone
  • Water level warning: Add more water above the MIN line; don't exceed MAX
