What You'll Need

  • Arlo Essential Indoor Camera
  • Arlo SmartHub or Base Station (required for HomeKit)
  • Arlo Secure app
  • Wi-Fi network (2.4 GHz)
  • Power outlet near mounting location

Important: HomeKit Requirement

To use Apple HomeKit, your Arlo Essential Indoor Camera must be connected to an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station (VMB5000, VMB4540, VMB4500, or VMB4000). Direct Wi-Fi connection to your router does NOT support HomeKit.

Connect your Arlo SmartHub to power and your router via Ethernet. Wait for the LED to turn solid blue.

2. Install the App

Download the Arlo Secure app from the App Store or Google Play.

3. Add the Camera

  1. Plug in the camera and wait for the LED to blink blue
  2. Open the Arlo Secure app and tap Add New Device
  3. Select Arlo Essential Indoor Camera
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your SmartHub
  5. Position and name your camera

4. Enable HomeKit (Optional)

  1. In the Arlo app, go to SettingsMy Devices
  2. Select your SmartHub
  3. Tap HomeKit
  4. Select a Home and Room in Apple Home
  5. Repeat for each camera you want in HomeKit
