Step-by-Step Setup

Charge the camera: Connect the magnetic charging cable to the back of the camera. Charge until the LED turns green (approximately 4 hours for initial charge).
Download the Arlo app: Install the Arlo Secure App from your app store and sign in or create an account.
Add a new device: Tap the "+" icon then select "Cameras" → "Essential Spotlight Camera."
Scan the QR code: Find the QR code on the camera and scan it with your phone.
Enter setup mode: Press and hold the sync button on the camera for about 2 seconds until the LED starts blinking blue.
Connect to Wi-Fi: Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password. The camera connects directly to your router without needing a hub.
Wait for setup to complete: The LED will flash while connecting and turn off when ready. The app will confirm successful setup.
Choose your location: Name the camera based on where you'll install it.
Mount the camera: Screw the magnetic mount base to your desired location. Attach the camera magnetically for easy positioning and removal for charging.

Won't connect to Wi-Fi: Confirm you're using 2.4GHz (not 5GHz). Move closer to your router during setup. Double-check your Wi-Fi password.
LED indicators: Blinking blue = setup mode. Fast blinking blue = connecting. Blinking amber = firmware update. Solid amber = battery low or charging.
Spotlight not turning on: Check that spotlight is enabled in camera settings. Verify motion detection is armed. Ensure battery has sufficient charge.
Missing motion alerts: Enable notifications in both the Arlo app and your phone settings. Check that motion detection sensitivity isn't set too low.
Battery life concerns: Expected battery life is 3-6 months depending on activity. High-traffic areas drain battery faster. Consider Arlo Solar Panel for extended use.
