What You'll Need

  • Arlo Ultra 2 camera
  • Arlo SmartHub (included with system)
  • Included rechargeable battery
  • Ethernet cable for SmartHub
  • Magnetic mount and screws
  • Smartphone with Arlo Secure App
  • Wi-Fi network
  • Arlo account

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Set up the SmartHub first: Connect the SmartHub to your router using the included Ethernet cable. Plug in the power adapter. Wait for the front LED to turn solid blue (about 2 minutes).
  2. Charge the camera battery: Use the indoor magnetic charger to fully charge the battery before installation. LED shows amber while charging, green when complete.
  3. Open the Arlo app: Download the Arlo Secure App and sign in or create an account.
  4. Add the SmartHub: Tap "Add New Device" → "SmartHub." Scan the serial number on the bottom of the hub.
  5. Connect SmartHub to Wi-Fi (optional): For placement flexibility, the SmartHub can connect via Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet after initial setup.
  6. Add the camera: Select "Add New Device" → "Cameras" → "Arlo Ultra 2." Scan the QR code on the camera.
  7. Sync the camera: Press the sync button on the SmartHub, then press the sync button on the camera within 2 minutes. Wait for the camera to connect to the hub.
  8. Position and mount: Use the live view in the app to aim the camera. The magnetic mount allows easy adjustment. Secure the mount base with screws for permanent installation.
  9. Configure settings: Set up 4K recording, HDR preferences, activity zones, and smart notifications.

Troubleshooting

  • SmartHub won't go online: Ensure Ethernet cable is securely connected to router and hub. Try a different router port. Check that your internet connection is working.
  • Camera won't sync to hub: Move camera within 10 feet of SmartHub during initial sync. Press sync buttons in correct order (hub first, then camera within 2 minutes).
  • 4K video not available: 4K requires an Arlo Secure subscription. Without subscription, video is limited to 1080p with 7-day cloud storage.
  • Slow live streaming: 4K streaming requires strong Wi-Fi. Try reducing quality to 1080p for smoother playback. Check SmartHub signal strength in app.
  • Battery life shorter than expected: 4K recording and frequent motion events drain battery faster. Use 1080p for longer battery life. Consider the Arlo Solar Panel for continuous charging.
