What's in the Box
Your Blink Indoor camera package includes the camera unit, two AA lithium batteries, a camera stand with a mounting screw, a wall mount kit with screws and anchors, and a quick-start guide. The Blink Indoor is designed exclusively for indoor use and does not have weather-resistant construction, so keep it inside your home in a dry location away from moisture.
Prerequisites
Before setting up your Blink Indoor camera, download the Blink app on your iOS or Android device and create a Blink account or sign in to your existing one. You will need a Blink Sync Module 2 — the Blink Indoor does not connect directly to Wi-Fi on its own. If you do not have a Sync Module, you will need to purchase one separately or buy the camera in a bundle that includes it. Your Wi-Fi network must be 2.4 GHz, as neither the camera nor the Sync Module supports 5 GHz connections.
Setting Up the Sync Module
- Plug the Blink Sync Module 2 into a power outlet using the included micro USB cable and adapter. Position it centrally in your home for the best signal reach to all your Blink cameras.
- Wait for the LED pattern on the Sync Module to show solid blue and blinking green, indicating it is ready for pairing.
- In the Blink app, tap the "+" icon and select "Sync Module 2." Scan the QR code on the back of the module.
- Connect the Sync Module to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network by following the app prompts. The LED will turn solid green once connected.
- Optionally, plug a USB flash drive (up to 256 GB, formatted as exFAT or FAT32) into the Sync Module for free local video storage.
Step-by-Step Camera Setup
- Open the back cover of the Blink Indoor camera by sliding the latch. Insert the two AA lithium batteries, matching the polarity indicators printed inside the compartment.
- Replace the back cover until it clicks closed.
- In the Blink app, tap the "+" icon and select "Blink Indoor." Scan the QR code on the camera body.
- The app will automatically associate the camera with your existing Sync Module. If you have multiple Sync Modules, select the correct one from the list.
- The camera's LED will blink blue during pairing and stop once it is successfully connected.
- Name the camera (for example, "Living Room" or "Baby's Room") and assign it to your Blink system.
Placement and Mounting Tips
The Blink Indoor features a 110-degree field of view. For best results, place it on a shelf or table at chest height, angled slightly downward. If wall mounting, use the included bracket and position the camera six to seven feet high, pointing toward the room's main entry points. Avoid placing the camera directly facing a window, as glare and IR reflection from the glass will degrade night vision quality and trigger false motion alerts.
Smart Home Integration Tips
The Blink Indoor works seamlessly with Amazon Alexa. Link your Blink account in the Alexa app, and you can view live feeds on Echo Show, Fire TV, or the Alexa app. Create Alexa routines that trigger actions when motion is detected — for example, turning on a smart light when the camera senses movement in a hallway at night. The Blink Indoor does not natively support Google Home or Apple HomeKit.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the camera fails to pair, make sure the Sync Module is online (solid green LED). Move the camera closer to the Sync Module during initial pairing, then relocate it afterward. If battery life seems shorter than expected, reduce motion clip length from 30 seconds to 10 seconds and lower the retrigger time. For persistent offline issues, remove the batteries for 10 seconds, reinsert them, and re-pair the camera in the Blink app.
