What's in the Box
Your Blink Mini 2 package includes the camera unit, a USB-C power cable, a USB-C power adapter, a mounting kit with a screw and wall anchor, and a quick-start guide. Unlike Blink's battery-powered cameras, the Mini 2 requires constant power through the USB-C cable, so plan your placement near an available outlet.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the Blink Mini 2, download the Blink app on your iOS or Android device and create a Blink account if you do not have one. You will need a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network — the Mini 2 does not support 5 GHz connections. If you already own a Blink Sync Module 2, the Mini 2 can optionally connect through it for local storage to a USB drive. However, the Sync Module is not required, as the Mini 2 can operate independently using Blink cloud storage.
Step-by-Step Setup
- Plug the USB-C cable into the back of the Blink Mini 2 and connect the other end to the power adapter. Plug the adapter into a wall outlet. The camera's LED will flash blue and green, indicating it is ready for setup.
- Open the Blink app and tap the "+" icon to add a new device. Select "Blink Mini 2" from the device list.
- Scan the QR code on the back of the camera or on the quick-start guide when prompted by the app.
- The app will ask you to connect to the camera's temporary Wi-Fi network. Follow the prompts to join this network, then return to the Blink app.
- Select your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password. The camera will connect and the LED will turn solid blue when the connection is successful.
- Name the camera and assign it to a room or location in the Blink app.
Mounting Your Blink Mini 2
The Blink Mini 2 has a built-in stand for tabletop placement and a magnetic mount point for wall installation. For wall mounting, use the included screw and anchor to attach the mount plate, then snap the camera onto it magnetically. Position the camera at a slight downward angle for the best field of view. Ensure the USB-C cable can reach an outlet without excessive tension on the connection.
App Pairing and Configuration
Once the camera is connected, open its settings in the Blink app to configure motion detection zones, sensitivity levels, and alert schedules. The Mini 2 supports person detection if you have a Blink Subscription Plus plan. Enable night vision under the video settings for clear footage in low-light conditions. Set the video quality to "Best" for 1080p recording, or choose "Saver" if your Wi-Fi bandwidth is limited.
Smart Home Integration Tips
The Blink Mini 2 integrates directly with Amazon Alexa. In the Alexa app, go to Devices, tap the "+" icon, and select "Camera." The Blink Mini 2 will appear after linking your Blink account. Once connected, you can view the live feed on Echo Show devices, Fire TV, or the Alexa app by saying "Alexa, show me [camera name]." The Blink Mini 2 does not natively support Google Home or Apple HomeKit.
Quick Troubleshooting
If the camera LED does not flash during setup, try a different USB-C cable and power adapter to rule out power issues. If the camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi, confirm your network is 2.4 GHz and that you are entering the correct password. Move the camera closer to your router during initial setup if the signal is weak at the intended location. You can always relocate it after pairing is complete.
