What You'll Need

  • GE Cync Direct Connect Smart Bulb A19 (Color)
  • Standard E26 light socket
  • Cync app
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Install the Bulb

Screw the bulb into any standard E26 socket and turn on the power. The bulb will blink to indicate it's ready for setup.

2. Download the App

Get the Cync app from the App Store or Google Play. Create an account.

3. Connect Your Phone to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

Important: If your phone is on 5 GHz, switch to your 2.4 GHz network before setup. The bulb cannot connect to 5 GHz networks.

4. Add the Bulb

  1. Open the Cync app and tap +
  2. Scan the QR code on the bulb packaging, or enter the serial number
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to connect
  4. Wait for the bulb to connect to your Wi-Fi

Matter Setup

To add via Matter to Apple Home, Google Home, or other platforms:

  1. Set up the bulb in the Cync app first (for firmware updates)
  2. Open your preferred smart home app
  3. Add the bulb using the Matter setup code

Factory Reset

If the bulb isn't responding or needs to be re-paired:

  1. Turn the bulb off for 3 seconds, then on for 3 seconds
  2. Repeat 5 times
  3. The bulb will blink 3 times to confirm reset

Troubleshooting

  • Won't connect: Ensure phone is on 2.4 GHz network
  • Slow response: Place bulb within 40 feet of router
  • Not discovered: Factory reset and try again
