How to Set Up Your LIFX BR30 Color LED Bulb

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Install in Recessed Fixture: Screw the BR30 bulb into your recessed ceiling fixture.
  2. Turn On Power: Switch on the light. The bulb will create a temporary Wi-Fi network.
  3. Download LIFX App: Install from the App Store or Google Play.
  4. Open and Sign In: Create account or log in to the LIFX app.
  5. Add Bulb: Tap "Add Bulbs" and the app will find your new bulb.
  6. Connect to Home Network: Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  7. Assign to Group: Name the bulb and add it to a room or group.
  8. Adjust Settings: Set default colors and brightness preferences.

Troubleshooting

  • Not appearing in app: Power cycle the bulb. It broadcasts its own network when in setup mode.
  • Stuck in pairing mode: Reset by toggling power 5 times. The bulb will flash when reset.
  • Poor connection: BR30 bulbs in recessed cans may have reduced Wi-Fi range. Consider a Wi-Fi extender.
  • Dimmer compatibility: Remove any dimmer switches. LIFX bulbs dim through the app, not physical dimmers.
  • Factory reset: Toggle power switch on/off 5 times with 1-second intervals.
