What's in the Box

Your LIFX Mini White A19 LED Bulb package contains the bulb and a quick-start card. The LIFX Mini White is a compact, hub-free smart bulb that connects directly to your WiFi network. It features a standard E26 base and produces warm to cool white light, making it ideal for fixtures where color isn't needed but smart control is desired. No additional bridge, hub, or hardware is required.

Prerequisites

You'll need a light fixture with a standard E26 socket. The light switch must remain in the ON position at all times for the bulb to maintain its WiFi connection and respond to app and voice commands. If the switch is turned off, the bulb loses power and goes offline. Ensure your WiFi router broadcasts on the 2.4GHz band, as LIFX bulbs do not connect to 5GHz networks. Download the LIFX app from the App Store or Google Play and create a free LIFX account before starting.

Step-by-Step Setup

  1. Turn off the light switch for the fixture where you're installing the bulb.
  2. Screw the LIFX Mini White into the E26 socket until snug. The Mini form factor is slightly smaller than a standard A19 bulb, so it fits well in enclosed fixtures and table lamps.
  3. Turn the light switch on. The bulb will illuminate and enter pairing mode, typically glowing a soft white.
  4. Open the LIFX app and tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon.
  5. The app will scan for nearby LIFX bulbs. Select your Mini White when it appears in the list.
  6. Enter your 2.4GHz WiFi credentials when prompted. The bulb connects directly to your router.
  7. Name the bulb descriptively, such as "Kitchen Counter" or "Hallway Light," and assign it to a group or room for easy organization.
  8. Test the bulb by adjusting brightness and white temperature using the app's controls. The Mini White offers a range from warm 2700K to cool daylight 6500K.

White Temperature and Scheduling

Although the Mini White doesn't produce colors, it excels at providing the right shade of white for any situation. Use warmer temperatures around 2700K for relaxing evenings and cooler temperatures around 5000K to 6500K for focused work or task lighting. The LIFX app's scheduling feature lets you automate the bulb to turn on at sunset and off at bedtime. The Day and Dusk feature can gradually shift the white temperature throughout the day, starting cool in the morning and warming up in the evening to support your natural circadian rhythm.

Smart Home Integration Tips

The LIFX Mini White works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit out of the box. Link your LIFX account in your preferred voice assistant's app to enable commands like "Alexa, set the hallway to 50 percent" or "Hey Siri, turn off the kitchen light." For automation enthusiasts, LIFX also integrates with IFTTT and SmartThings, allowing you to create routines such as turning lights on when you arrive home or dimming them when you start a movie on your smart TV. Group multiple Mini White bulbs in the same room for synchronized control.

Quick Troubleshooting

If the bulb doesn't show up in the LIFX app, verify your phone is on the 2.4GHz WiFi network. To reset the bulb into pairing mode, turn the light switch off and on five times in quick succession, pausing about one second between each toggle. The bulb will flash to confirm the reset. If the bulb intermittently goes offline, check your router's WiFi signal strength at the bulb's location and ensure your router can handle the number of connected devices on your network. LIFX recommends a router that supports at least 30 simultaneous connections for homes with multiple smart bulbs.
